This piece was painted in Patea NZ in April 2026. The design was largely informed by Project Reef who do amazing work documenting and raising awareness about the incredible and diverse reef life that exists along that stretch of coast line, there’s also input from the Patea Historical society.

Lots of local students participated in the painting and that made the process extra special I think.

Apart from the Historical Society and Project Reef some facilitation and funding came through South Taranaki District Council and The Toi Foundation.
